A Concerned youth group in the Ho West Constituency of the NDC in the Volta Region has questioned the credibility of the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra, urging him to step aside and give way to some new faces to also represent the constituency in Parliament. This is despite the fact that the MP has already filed to contest the seat for a Fifth term.
The group calling itself ‘Concerned Youth of Ho West’ expressed disappoinment in the performances of their Member of Parliament raising serious concerns against his continues stay in parliament in the name of Ho West.
Addressing a Press Conference on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the Ho West Constituency office of the party, the group identified that the voting pattern of the NDC in the Ho West Constituency has marginally been on the decline since 2008 when Hon. Bedzra took over from the late Hon. Francis Komla Agbotse.
They alleged that the MP through his aid has resorted to monetisation and buying of android phones to induce some of the current branch executives so he could be given another mandate in Parliament.
The group further alleged that “an amount of Ghc30,000.00 was released by the MP and GHC 10,000.00 from the regional executives for organizing some activities that the constituency chairman Mr. Nukomeko Tettey cannot account for, and subsequently other executive members were not privy to, about how that amount has been used.
They also disclosed that organizational activities which are to be championed by the Constituency organizer is being undertaken by other executives who own allegiance to the MP, adding that such activities always end in flaws.
The press release noted with shock how the NPP chalked victory in some polling stations in the constituency during the 2020 election, something that is not usual.
It has also emerged allegedly that, the Ho West member of parliament has supported the NPP Assemblymen against those on the ticket of the NDC during the last assembly election in Tsito, Avenui, Abutia Kloe, and Abutia Teti electoral areas.
They again mentioned that an investigation conducted by them revealed that Mr. Nukomeko who contested against Hon. Bedzra also took along one Dr. Frimpong who is an aid to vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The Concerned Youth of Ho West are however demanding that the leadership of the party at both regional and national levels conduct investigations about the loyalty of their Member of Parliament Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra and the party Chairman Mr. Nukomeko to the party before the NDC Primaries
The group has also called for a new face to enable the party maximize its vote gains in both the presidential and parliamentary votes.
Meanwhile, the concerned Youth has also called on the regional and national executives to step in to address the division among the Executives in the Constituency and further caused the duo to account for the GHC 40,000.00 released by the MP and regional executives respectively.
