Volta Region is divided into 18 administrative districts, therefore, a conservative calculation of the amount that Dr. Letsa got for his tour is a little over Ghc40,000.

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa, in early January, extracted monies from all Municipal and District Assemblies in his region to fund a tour of the region.

A 4th January, 2022 memo from the Regional Minister to the Municipal and District Chief Executives demanded that all Municipal Assemblies pay him Ghc2,500 each while other smaller Assemblies pay Ghc2000 each.

“…All Municipal and District Assemblies are requested to make the contributions below to the Office of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council by close of work on Thursday 6th January 2022 to cater for part of the cost of the tour,” the letter read.

It was signed by the Regional Coordinating Director for the Regional Minister.

Volta Region is divided into 18 administrative districts, therefore, a conservative calculation of the amount that Dr. Letsa got for his tour is a little over Ghc40,000.

Many have questioned why the Regional Minister, whose office already has a budget, would exact this amount of money from the Assemblies for the tour.
