I am ready to serve, but at the right time – Albert Aheto

Even though constituency elections are far off, pressure is already mounting on the deputy director of elections for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, Comrade Albert Aheto, to contest and become the next Constituency Organizer of the party.

This follows his sterling performance in the 2020 general elections where he was seen all over the place coordinating affairs and making sure that the party’s interest was served during the polls.

Even though the NDC did not win the elections in that constituency, figures show the party performed creditably well by appreciating its vote margins, and it appears members of the party in Dome Kwabenya Constituency think that with Comrade Albert Aheto in charge as their organizer they can do more.

This perhaps is the reason they have started directing calls to him and sending him messages to consider running for the Organizer position in the constituency when the time is due. In one of such messages cited by ghananewsonline.com.gh on social media, the writer said:

“Comrades, I believe when all is said and done at the Supreme Court with our petition (win or not), we’ll have sometime to appraise our performance as a constituency in the just ended election. Yes our PC didn’t win but the effort and dedication of our supporters and some executives which garnered such massive votes and satisfactory results for JM and Elikplim shouldn’t go unnoticed at all. We had a STAR BOY for this electioneering period; from registration, voting and collation. He became a nightmare for the NPP as his presence was felt everywhere. He was everywhere on the fields organizing everything for us. We need more of such executives going forward, comrades. Mr Albert Aheto your hardwork will surely be rewarded. Please consider being the CONSTITUENCY ORGANIZER to unleash more of such energy and visibility you showed in this election for the next one. We’ll focus on our Court Case for now but let it be known by God and posterity that even though I have no silver nor gold to reward you for your effort, I was able to praise your love, commitment and hard work you showed to the constituency in the 2020 elections. We need you more now Sir. Good day”

However, in his sharp response to the call Comerade Aheto said his current focus is to support the party in its electoral battle at the Supreme Court and that he will take a decision on the call when all is said and done.

He writes:

“My attention was drawn to this post.
I joined the Constituency Executive Committee for Ward visitation today and just got home. Just as you stated in your post, My focus now is on the Election Petition.
For your call for me to Consider being the CONSTITUENCY ORGANIZER, well when we get to the bridge we will know how to cross it. I believe in the party structure hence the Party constitution. Let us wait for the right time. I am ready to serve but at the right time. Thanks for your complement.

It is not exactly clear what he intends to do but members of the party in the constituency say they are ready to support him whenever he makes a move towards that direction.
