I didn’t go to journalism school – Sefa Kayi

Broadcast journalist Kwami Sefa Kayi, has revealed he has neither diploma nor degree in journalist despite ending up as a very influential and successful journalist.

The onetime Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) journalist of the year said even though he has no such qualification, he has pursued certificate courses at Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).

He was in 2016 named GJA Journalist of the Year. According to host of the Kokrokoo Morning show on Peace FM, he has only advance certificates. He also pursued a course at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.

“I did not attend regular journalism so I do not have diploma in journalism, I do not have degree in journalism.

I only have certificates in advance Communication Marketing and Public Relations but that one I did it at GIJ but in certificates. So, I did not go to journalism school, no I didn’t.”

Mr. Kayi said what one needs to understand is that having the talent alone is not enough but one also needs to be disciplined and seek self-development.

“What I will advice is, if you have the talent, then you need discipline and self-development”, he said.

The popular media personality said this when he was featured as a guest on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review show on Saturday June 26, 2021.
