Ghana legend Michael Essien believes he can become a top notch coaching but admits it’s just a matter of time before he can achieve that goal.

He stated that if you are smart enough and you have a passion for the game and still want to do something in and around the sport, there’s a big opportunity to achieve that in Europe.

“I think it’s just a matter of time before you start seeing our generation of footballers becoming top-level coaches [in Europe].”

“If you are smart enough and you have a passion for the game and still want to do something in and around the sport, the opportunities will come”, He told DW.

The Ghanaian is currently with Denmark Superliga side FC Nordsjaelland and serves as the development coach.

He won two English Premier League titles with the Blues during his time in England and also won the UEFA Champions League trophy in 2012 with the London based club.

He played for clubs like Olympique Lyon in France, Real Madrid in Spain and AC Milan and was one of the most talked about midfielders during his time.
