Conceding that the recent increment has created a marginal gap, it is determined to continue engagement with stakeholders to consider the various inputs into their operations.

It added, “We kindly request all Commercial Transport Operators to comply with the existing fares. We take this opportunity to assure all Transport Operators and the General Public that we will continue to work in their interest.”

Background
The group calling themselves Transport Operators Association Of Ghana served notice for 15% upward adjustments in transport fares across the country, attributing it to recent upward adjustments in fuel prices at the pumps.

In its justification, it said, “This has become necessary due to the recent surge in petroleum and spare parts prices coupled with economic hardship.”

The new prices were scheduled to take effect from Monday, July 22, 2024.
