The committee responsible for handling the leaked tape involving the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has discredited media reports claiming that the IGP has been cleared of any wrongdoing.

According to sources close to the Atta Kyea’s committee, the report circulating in the media is fake, as the committee has not yet finalized its findings.

Contrary to media reports, the Atta Akyea Committee, tasked with investigating the matter, has not reached any conclusions or recommendations. The committee is still in the process of conducting a thorough investigation into the leaked tape and the actions of the senior police officers involved including the IGP who is said to have allegedly leaked the tape he orchestrated its recording at Daniel Bugri Naabu’s Osu office.

The IGP is panting over the role he played including embarrassing the presidency with the leakage of the tape.

Realising that he may suffer a possible removal, the IGP allegedly recruited some media houses to spread the falsehood about his exoneration.

The media reports falsely claimed that the committee recommended further investigation and potential prosecution of the three senior officers for perjury.

It also stated that the committee suggested a review or amendment of certain legislation to ensure the independence of the office of the IGP.

The leaked tape incident has brought attention to the need for transparency, professionalism, and accountability within the country’s police service.

The committee’s investigation aims to uncover the truth and ensure that justice is served.

“It is imperative to respect the committee’s process and refrain from spreading misinformation.

The committee’s report, once finalized, will provide the public with accurate and reliable information regarding the leaked tape and its implications,” the source said.

The committee’s findings is expected to shed light on the truth surrounding the leaked tape and any potential wrongdoing.
