The head of the Election Task Force, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare, met with members of the business community in Accra to discuss security arrangements for the upcoming December 7 elections. The meeting aimed to ensure robust measures are in place to guarantee peace and stability before, during, and after the polls.

As Ghana relies heavily on imports for essential commodities like cooking oil, soap, and other goods, the business community highlighted the importance of safeguarding the nation’s economic activities during the election period. They commended the security agencies for their ongoing efforts to ensure a credible electoral process and called for more stakeholder engagements to educate voters about maintaining peace.

“Your businesses will remain safe and secure during this period,” the IGP assured, emphasizing the critical role of the private sector in the nation’s economic stability. He pledged to uphold fairness and equity in the enforcement of law and order while urging all Ghanaians to conduct themselves responsibly.

“We call on everyone to abide by the law and maintain peace to ensure that Ghana continues to be a beacon of democracy,” he added.

The meeting underscored the collaboration between the security agencies and the business sector in fostering a peaceful electoral environment, critical for the nation’s progress and stability.
