Ebony Reigns, born Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, was a Ghanaian dancehall and afrobeat artiste. She was signed to Rufftown Records and Midas Touch Inc. She rose to fame with her hit single, Poison, in 2017 and went on to release several successful songs, including Maame Hw3, Date Your Fada and Sponsor. She was killed in a car accident on February 8, 2018.

A year before her death, Ebony Reigns spoke to TV3 about her dreams, lifestyle and music career. Today, we remember Ebony Reigns and her impact on the culture.

Ebony spoke about taking Ghana global with her unique style.

“More great music, no disappointments. I’m going to put Ghana out there and make Ghana proud.”

 

Ebony died in a motor accident in February 2018 while returning to Accra from Sunyani. She was just 20 years old. The news of her death was met with an outpouring of grief from fans and celebrities across the country. 

Her passing has been a great loss to the music industry and her fans worldwide. She was a true talent and inspiration to many.

In her memory, many of her fellow artistes, friends and fans paid tribute to her with songs, videos and lyrics in her honour. Social media was also flooded with loving messages and fondest memories of her. Her funeral was attended by thousands of people, and she was given a state burial.

Her legacy will live on as her fans continue to share her music and story. Her memory will be remembered and celebrated by all.
