I’m learning to play flute to replace Rap – Okyeame Kwame
According to him, his desire for music remains solid so investing in atentenben will help him to take money from the Europeans as he is getting older and weak.
Celebrated Ghanaian musician, Kwame Nsiah-Apau, also known as Okyeame Kwame, has said he is switching from rap which gave him the nickname “Rap Doctor” in his early stage.
He said rap is tough considering his current age hence, his decision to ditch rap.
Speaking to Quophi Okyeame on his ’30 Questions’ show, Okyeame Kwame stated that he is learning a flute (atentenben) because rap requires more energy and he will soon become weak.
According to him, his desire for music remains solid so investing in atentenben will help him to take money from the Europeans as he is getting older and weak.
“Currently, I picked up a flute (atentenben ) and I have been playing for maybe four months. And I am learning to play atentenben because very soon I will be old and weak and I still want to do music. Rap is tough, I want to sit down and collect money from the Europeans by playing atentenben so that is what I am learning now.” Okyeame Kwame said.
The creative director and a Developmental Activist explained that including African drama, women with big nyash in rafias and kente and other activities will attract the white for him to earn more income.
“I will add a little African drama, women with big nyash in rafias and kente and create a certain persona and I will be playing the atentenben.” He said.
The renowned musician also got another name “Mr. Versatile” due to his ability to perform other music genres, including hip-hop, reggae, highlife, R&B, jazz.
