I’m very angry with Akufo-Addo government; they need to sit up – Otiko Djaba lashes out

“When 1 million people give their votes to you, you must do the right thing by them. This is not about politics but the development of the people, with the people. Giving them the necessary information. Where you cannot meet them, talk to them. They are human beings; they will understand because the NPP is a listening government. These are serious times, and we need serious decisions to be taken.”

A leading stalwart of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Otiko Afisah Djabah has descended heavily on the Akufo-Addo-led government for its insensitivity to the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian.

According to the former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the government has, over the years, been lackadaisical in handling the current economic challenges despite the huge outcry.

Speaking on the state-owned GTV, Otiko said Ghanaians entrusted their lives and future in the hands of the NPP government when they decided to vote in the 2020 elections. Therefore it falls on the government to sit up and do better with its decisions.

“Food prices are like that all over the world; it’s not only Ghana but why are you a leader? You are a leader to solve the problems,” she added.

The comments of Otiko follow a huge outcry by some caterers in the Ashanti Region who have expressed displeasure about the delay in payment of their arrears and the 97 pesewas granted to children.
