IMF Delegation to arrive in Ghana on Tuesday for In-person Meeting
The IMF in a tweet confirmed to have received a request from the Ghanaian government for economic support.
A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is scheduled to arrive in Accra on Tuesday July 5, 2022 to commence in-person meetings with the government of Ghana on Wednesday July 6, 2022.
This follows a directive from the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on July 1, 2022 to the Ministry of Finance to commence engagement with the Fund.
The IMF in a tweet confirmed to have received a request from the Ghanaian government for economic support.
According to a tweet from its Country Representative, Albert Touna-Mama, the Fund is ready to assist the country to restore macroeconomic stability.
“We can confirm that the authorities have been in touch to request Fund’s support to Ghana’s own economic programme.”
In press statement from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry assured Ghanaians of the government’s commitment to successfully negotiate a program with the IMF in the coming months, in support of Ghana’s economic recovery.
