Implementation of New Tax Policies in the 2021 Budget: GRA serves Notice

Following the passing of three new tax laws by Parliament and the Amendment of two existing ones for implementation as contained in the 2021 budget statement and economic policy of the government, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has notified the general public especially taxpayers of the details of the laws.

In an official news release signed by its Commissioner General and copied to the media the GRA stated the laws as follows:

1.Penalty and Interest Waiver Act,2021(Act 1065)
2. COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy Act,2021(Act 1068)
3. Financial Sector Recovery Levy Act, 2021(Act 1067)
4. Energy Sector Levy(Amendment)Act,2021(Act1066)
5. Income Tax(Amendment)Act,2021(Act1066)

The release stated that the COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy Act and the Energy Sector Levy Amendment Act both take effect from May 1 2021.

The release further directed the general public to obtain any additional information on these laws and amendments from the GRA’s website at www.gra.gov.gh.

It entreated the general public including taxpayers to take note of these laws and amendments and comply accordingly.
