In-form Ghana striker Abdul-Aziz Yakubu bags brace, provides assist as Rio Ave whitewash Porto

In-form Ghana striker, Abdul-Aziz Yakubu grabbed his first league brace this season in the Liga Portugal on Sunday evening against giant FC Porto.

The Ghanaian forward played 70 minutes before he was subbed off in the 70th minute only to be replaced by another Ghana striker, Emmanuel Boateng.

Fabio Ronaldo sent a through pass to the striker who slotted home the opening goal of the match to put the hosts 1-0 up inside 22 minutes with a beautiful and calm finish into the bottom right corner.

Eleven minutes later, the striker swung in a pinpoint cross into the box which was converted by Pedro Amaral at the far post to give the home a healthy 2-0 advantage.

Amaral returned the favour with two minutes to the interval with a sweet cross which was headed home into the bottom left corner to make it 3-0 to Rio Ave against Porto.

Porto got a chance to find their way back into the game but Mehdi Taremi hit the post from the spot kick.

Deep into additional time period of the match, Antonia Martínez got a consolation goal for the Champions League side when he was set up by former Real Madrid defender, Pepe but it was a little too late to rescue a point for his team.

The 23-year-old predator finisher has three goals and one assist in three matches this season in the Liga Portugal.

The game ended 3-1 to Rio Ave who picked their first win of the season since promotion.
