Information Ministry moves to stop the sale of ISD Property at Kanda

Some unseen hands in government are trying to sell to the state property to an Accra-based businessman, one Frank Osei.

The Ministry of Information has taken up the fight to resist the sale of the Information Services Department (ISD) property located close to the Jubilee House at Kanda, Accra.

Some unseen hands in government are trying to sell to the state property to an Accra-based businessman, one Frank Osei.

The ISD property that shares a wall with Afrikiko Restaurant at Kanda in Accra was besieged by land guards some two weeks ago putting the lives of ISD workers there in danger.

The Inquisitor is reliably informed that the Ministry of Information has vowed to resist the capture of the ISD property and has been fully briefed on the ugly situation.

Flawless sources within the Information Ministry told ‘The Inquisitor’ that the minister was extremely proactive in knowing what was exactly going on in connection with the said property.

The ISD workers two weeks ago were taken by storm when fully armed land guards stormed the property to place a metal container on it.

When the land guards were questioned, they mentioned Frank Osei as their boss and claimed that they were working on his orders because he was in the process of acquiring the property from the government.

‘The Inquisitor’ is fully aware that top officials of the ISD have reported the trespassing on their property to the Ghana Police Service with proper land documents.

Per the paper’s checks, Frank Osei has been questioned by the police about his presence on the property that belongs to a state agency.

The ISD basically creates awareness of government policies, programmes and activities through effective communication strategies.

However, successive governments have not been able to resource that important outfit with the requisite support to enable it to function as expected.

The move to sell the Kanda property would mean that the ISD must look for a new place to operate from and that would deepen the department’s financial woes further.

Ghana has been bedevilled by the wanton sale of state lands and buildings to politicians and influential people and the situation is becoming terrifying under the current administration.

Shockingly, some state agencies are housed in private property with government paying huge sums of money as rent.

More to come!
