Ink It Foundation honours JHS students for partaking in ‘Young Writer’s Contest’
The Ink It Foundation, in partnership with the Esther Ocloo Foundation, among others, has rewarded some Junior High School pupils for participating in the ‘Young Writer’s Contest’.
The pupils, numbering 12, were in various schools under the La Dade Kotopon Education Directorate.
The Young Writer’s Contest was organized amongst some 12 Schools and 5 other non-scoring students in the Directorate.
2019’s contest required the participants to write about the life and legacy of the late Esther Afua Ocloo as well as the lessons or the impact that her life has made.
The ceremony, which was held at the Christ the King Parish in Accra on Wednesday, December 18, saw Yolanda Nana Yaa Kwakye from La Salem Presbyterian Basic School received the top prize.

As a reward, she received a cash prize of GHC 1,000 as well as assorted books.
Matthew Amevor of St. Maurice R/C J.H.S. came in second, receiving GHC 600.00 as well as assorted books, with Yvonne Pearl Anyetei of the La Presbyterian/Emmaus J.H.S. placing third and receiving GHC 400.00 with assorted books.
All participants in the contest were given a certificate of participation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Thomas Okyere, who was from the Botswana Consulate, urged the students to continue in the habit of writing.
He cautioned that if efforts were not made by individuals to write their own stories, others would write them on their behalf and that may be dangerous.
The ultimate award winner, Yolanda Nana Yaa Kwakye also admonished her colleagues to read more to enhance their writing skills.
