It is our sacrifices that has sustained School Feeding Programme – Association President
She says although the amount given them, coupled with the taxes they pay on each head is not sufficient, they strive to prepare healthy meals for the pupils, only for their efforts to be unappreciated.
President of the School Feeding Caterers Association, Juliana Cudjoe, has said members of the Association have had to make some sacrifices for the President to sustain the programme.
She says although the amount given them, coupled with the taxes they pay on each head is not sufficient, they strive to prepare healthy meals for the pupils, only for their efforts to be unappreciated.
Her comments come on the back of the Auditor-General’s report indicating the food prepared for the pupils are unwholesome. According to the report, some of the caterers prepare food with rotten ingredients for the pupils.
But reacting to the issue, President of the Association, Juliana Cudjoe, told Onua FM’s Nana Yaa Brefo Danso on Yen Nsempa, that had it not been their sacrifices, the programme would have collapsed.
“We the caterers sacrifice. We have decided to sacrifice to support the government else this [school feeding programme] wouldn’t have sufficed because we are mothers.
“We cannot cook without tasting some so we can’t prepare malnourished food for the children. They should come and apologise to us caterers because they have disgraced us,” she indicated.
