JUSAG calls off strike action after crunch meeting with management of Judicial services
The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has called off its indefinite strike following a meeting with the management of the Judicial Service, ABC News can report.
The move comes two days after JUSAG declared a strike action over government’s failure to review the salaries of its members.
A statement containing the directive by the management of JUSAG, sighted by ABC News, indicated that the decision to call off the strike action by JUSAG is as a result of the outcome of a meeting between JUSAG and the management of judicial service on Thursday, November 14.
”We are glad to announce to the general public and our rank and file that, today, 14th November, 2019, the leadership of JUSAG and the management of the Judicial Services met on the issues that necessitated our indefinite strike,”
The Acting Chief Justice has approved that the issues raised at the said meeting will be forwarded to the Judicial Council. In view of the above, we resolved to suspend our industrial strike action with immediate effect,” the statement said.
The association declared the strike action after it said its numerous calls for salary review for its members had gone unresolved.
JUSAG declared an indefinite nationwide strike on November 13, 2019 as a result of the government’s failure to review the salaries of its members.
JUSAG stated that the Judicial Council had also failed to release the report on their negotiations for onward approval by the President.
Prior to the declaration of the strike, the National Executive Council of JUSAG had asked members of the Association to put on red-arm bands and hoist red flags in the various courts to have their demands addressed.
