HEPA PLUS Herbal Mixture, a locally-made supplement for general wellbeing, has received a massive endorsement to contribute to the effective management of the Covid-19 pandemic in Ghana.

Two health organisations in the country – the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), a referral health facility in Kumasi, and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) – have endorsed the herbal medicine.

This was after the management of the hospital led by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso, with the support of Mr. Barnabas Yeboah, Director of Nursing and Midwifery Unit at the Ministry of Health, received 300 bottles of the medicine for KATH frontline workers last Friday.

Management of the Ga East Municipal Hospital in the Greater Accra Region had earlier received similar product to support its staff in charge of the Covid-19 management.

HEPA Plus Herbal Mixture was produced after six years of intensive collaborative research by the manufacturers and scientists at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

The medicine which improves the immune system to overcome a wide range of infectious diseases including Covid-19 has been approved by Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).

Chief Executive of Ebenage Herbal Production and Consult (EHPC), manufacturers of HEPA Plus Herbal Mixture, Dr. Ebenezer Agyemang, said its benefits as narrated by consumers justified FDA’s endorsement as a product for general wellbeing.

Speaking at the donation ceremony at KATH, Dr. Agyemang said his organization attached seriousness to combating infectious diseases, hence the production of natural remedies that would help the general wellbeing of consumers.

He expressed the hope that the immune system of nurses and midwives who played crucial roles would be strengthened after using HEPA Plus Herbal Mixture.

We do not wish they are exposed to the virus but even if some are exposed we pray God will use the product to help their immunity to combat the virus so that eventually they will overcome it to continue giving care and helping our survivals,” he said.

KATH CEO, Dr. Owusu-Danso, who received the herbal medicine on behalf of KATH, thanked Dr. Ebenezer Agyemang for his kind gesture and recommended it to the public.

He promised to ensure that frontline workers at the hospital, who were really in critical need, and were confronted with the challenge of Covid-19, each got at least a bottle of the product.

Ebenage Herbal Production and Consult CEO told DAILY GUIDE after the donation that his outfit had been providing tremendous support through intensive public health education and donations to health institutions, occupational groups, individuals, businesses and the vulnerable in Ghana.

He noted that the health and safety of healthcare workers who were among the occupational groups at high risk of exposure to Covid-19 would help to stem the spread of the disease.
