Some taxi drivers in the Kasoa area have complained bitterly about the deplorable state of the Nyanyano-Kasoa road and how it is ruining their commuting business.
They noted that, the authorities have failed multiple times in following through with their promises of fixing the roads in previous years, as part of the grand road construction project in the Ewutu Efutu District.
According to these aggrieved drivers, all attempts to reach the authorities have proven futile, as an earlier attempt to demonstrate was foiled by security officials.
Some commuters have also added their voices by taking to social media to register their displeasure to push the authorities to take action.
Some of the residents who spoke with ghananewsonline.com.gh in an interview noted that recent downpours have worsened the already deplorable roads in the area, and consequently affecting their economic activities.
The Kasoa road construction project
In 2015, the then government assented to a grand road construction project in the Ewutu Efutu Municipality to ease the flow of traffic in the Kasoa–Cape Coast road network. It included the construction of a 715 metre Kasoa Main Interchange and a 20-kilometre local roads within the Kasoa area.
Commuters in Nyanyano have complained that, the roads in the area were neglected by the constructors in charge of the project after the first phase of construction, and these roads have been deteriorating since.
Residents in Nyanyano have called on the authorities in the municipality to fix the roads as soon as possible.
