Kenyan with over $300K worth of cocaine napped by Police at KIA
Mary Njeri, 35, was arrested during routine checks at the arrival hall after disembarking from a South African Airways flight from Narobi to Accra via Johannesburg.
A Kenyan national by name Mary Njeri was on Saturday, April 15 arrested by officials of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) for smuggling 11.04 kilogrammes of cocaine at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
The consignment is said to be worth $309,120.
Mary Njeri, 35, was arrested during routine checks at the arrival hall after disembarking from a South African Airways flight from Narobi to Accra via Johannesburg.
“A search of her luggage revealed packages of Cremora food that contained the concealed drugs,” a statement issued by NACOC on Tuesday, April 18 said.
She confirmed possession of the luggage and was later subjected to interrogation.
She is currently being held in prison, pending further investigations and possible prosecution.
The exhibits have been sent to the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) for analysis and report.
NACOC has assured the public that it will continue its effort to reduce the drug trafficking threat to Ghana.
