Ketu South: Committee to probe why Assembly is unable to elect a Presiding Member
The Assembly all these while had witnessed several elections from the honorable members including some candidates going unopposed.
Members of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly have for the seventh consecutive time failed to elect into office a new Presiding Member (PM) to fill the vacancy left by the former bearer of the position.
As it stands now the Assembly is finally left without a PM to fully drive the house’s business agenda as a new term for Presiding Member across the country begins.
The Assembly all these while had witnessed several elections from the honorable members including some candidates going unopposed.
On Monday February 28, after elections were again conducted, the Assembly members were dismayed as no candidate could secure the 2/3 majority votes needed to elect into office their new PM prompting the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Maxwell Kofi Lugudor, to constitute a 15 member committee to Probe into the continuous failure of the members to elect PM.
Mr. Lugudor later in an interview with the media following the development, called on the members of the house to put their electoral areas and the Assembly’s interest first by letting off any personal and party interests to ensure that the Assembly gets a PM to steer the affairs of the house a because the Assembly’s business will be adversely affected without a PM.
“I am sure the honorable members will soon produce a presiding member for Ketu South,” Maxwell Lugudor stated, adding that, he is ever ready to work with whoever would be elected as Presiding Member by the Assembly Members.
