Kiosks, other properties burnt to ashes at Achimota

Kiosks, shelter and other properties, worth several thousands of cedis have been reduced to ashes at a slum located along the Achimota overhead bridge, ABC News can report.

Reports indicate that the fire started from one of the kiosks belonging to the son of the landlord who sold the land to a Pub in the vicinity known as Makey Pub.

No lives were lost.

Residents say they suspect a deliberate move by the owners of the land to get them off the property because the new landowner has paid the tenants to move away from his property.

The fire affected nearby structures as it went beyond the enclave where the squatters have been asked to move.

The exact cause of the cause is unknown but the Fire Service has commenced investigations into the incident.
