Kofi Osafo-Maafo is an executive with 25 years of experience in the investment management and investment banking industries.

He spent 22 years in these industries in the UK. During the period, he held key roles advising leading UK-based global investment management firms about their equity investments.

18 of those years were focused primarily on the mining and oil sector investments across Global Emerging Markets, Europe and North America.

Kofi is the Deputy Director-General, Investment and Development of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), the national pension fund of Ghana, where he led the restructuring of the multi-asset class investment portfolio.

Prior to that, he was a Senior Investment Manager at Pictet Asset Management, investment management arm of Swiss private bank The Pictet Group, where he was responsible for mining, oil & gas, and material sector equity investments.

He started his career with the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and also worked for Aviva Investors. He has held key roles at HSBC Asset Management’s active investment management arm Halbis Capital and F&C Asset Management.

He was an Investment Banker/Director with analytical responsibility for European Oil Exploration and Production companies at the investment banking arm of Unicredit Bank in London. Kofi has also worked as a consultant assessing iron ore investment opportunities in West Africa.

Kofi is on the Board of CalBank Limited. A listed and leading indigenous bank in Ghana. He is a member of the Audit and Risk Management Subcommittees of the Board.

Kofi holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics from Queen Mary, University of London and a MA in International Business and Finance from the University of Reading. He is an Associate Member of the UK Society of Investment Professionals.
