Traditional leaders of Koniyaw, a community within the Bekwai Constituency of the Ashanti region, have invoked a curse on the lineage of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu, popularly known as “Joe Wise.”

Nana Boamah Koni Ababio IV, the Chief of Koniyaw, along with his elders, led the charge, expressing deep dissatisfaction with Joe Wise’s performance as the Member of Parliament for the area. According to the Chief, in all the years Joe Wise has served, his efforts have been inadequate, especially when compared to the accomplishments of other MPs like Hon. KT Hammond.

The Chief highlighted significant developmental challenges within the constituency that Joe Wise failed to address. He asserted that Joe Wise would have faced inevitable defeat had he contested in the NPP parliamentary primaries or a general election again. “Joe Wise would have been disgraced,” the Chief declared.

Due to the perceived poor performance of Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu, the Chief decreed that no descendant or relative of Joe Wise will ever be elected as an MP in the Bekwai constituency.

“No son, daughter, or relative of Joe Wise will be voted for if they contest as a Parliamentary candidate at Bekwai Constituency,” he cursed.

“Joe Wise’s name is an abomination to Koniyaw community. The whole community will get up and walk away at the mention of the name Joe Wise,” he added.

In contrast, the Chief praised Hon. KT Hammond for his commendable service to his constituency, noting his popularity and the numerous roads he had constructed.

“He has served for many years because of his good performance. They don’t joke with him at all. Your good deeds will follow you, and so shall your bad deeds,” the Chief emphasized.

Nana Boamah Koni Ababio IV made these statements during a courtesy call by the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Lawyer Ralph Poku-Adusie, on Thursday, July 18, 2024.
