Kotoko denies reports of Prosper Ogum’s dismissal
“It must be placed on record that management is equally not enthused with our results and deems it unacceptable. However, the IMC is committed to ensuring that there is a quick turnaround in our current fortunes.
Ghana Premier League club, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has responded to reports that head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has been sacked.
Coach Ogum was rumoured to have been fired after Kotoko lost their last Premier League game against Nations FC in match week 23 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, bringing them to a fourth straight defeat.
Meanwhile, a statement released by Porcupine Warriors has indicated that Mr. Ogum remains at the post.
“Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum remains at the post, contrary to speculations about his imminent dismissal,” part of the statement read.
The club acknowledged the concerns of the fan base, and assured them that the club’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) is in collaboration with the coaching staff in order to get the desired results going forward.
“It must be placed on record that management is equally not enthused with our results and deems it unacceptable. However, the IMC is committed to ensuring that there is a quick turnaround in our current fortunes.
“In our quest to achieve this, various steps have been taken, including an emergency meeting with the coaching staff and not the dismissal of the head coach.”
It added that “we urge our fans and all stakeholders to remain calm and continue to support our club in these turbulent times.”
