Kotoko to submit proposal to GFA Congress to allow registration of more foreign players

Kumasi Asante Kotoko is set to submit an amendment proposal of Article 26(5) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations to allow clubs to register more than five non-Ghanaian nationals.

According to Renowned Sports Journalist, SaddickAdams, the Ghana Premier League Giant is set to submit the amendment proposal at the GFA Congress which is scheduled for next month.

Article 26(5) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations states that “Clubs may register a maximum of five (5) non-Ghanaian nationals but not more than three (3) can participate in any one match.”

In a social media X post, Saddick Adams stated that “Asante Kotoko to submit an amendment proposal of Article 26(5) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations on the number of foreigners a club can register and field on match day.”

“Per the regulation, a club may register a maximum of five non-Ghanaian nationals in their but not more than 3 can make a match day squad. The GFA Congress comes off next month and Kotoko intends to trigger the amendment procedure to allow for clubs to register and field more foreign players.” The Angel FM presenter wrote.

Meanwhile, Kumasi Asante Kotoko have announced the signing of two non-Ghanaian nationals as part of the club’s rebuilding ahead of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.

The two Sudanese new players, forward AbdoelRahman Yoouef Yagoub and defender Esmat Hassabalbagi from The Hay Alwady of Sudan and Al Hilal respectively are on a year contract with a club option of a permanent deal.
