Krowor Municipal Assembly Constructs Ice Plant Facility

The Krowor Municipal Assembly has constructed an ice plant facility for the storage of fresh and processed fish as its component of 1D1F programme.

The facility, GhanaNewsOnline.com.gh has gathered, would also produce ice blocks for fisher folks. The ice plant facility was constructed by the Assembly’s implementation team in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for the Krowor Constituency, Elizabeth Afoley Quaye in partnership with the Korea Aid.

Available information further indicates that, the Assembly has rolled out activities for the implementation of the 1D1F programme. The 1D1F District Implementation Support Team [DIST] per the information has been duly inaugurated and the team is working tirelessly to invite potential promoters and entrepreneurs to partner the Assembly and make the project a reality.

Speaking at the Assembly’s meet-the- press series in Accra, Mr. Joshua Nii Bortey, the Municipal Chief Executive of Krowor Assembly said under the government’s one million one constituency flagship program, the Assembly in collaboration with the coastal development authority has identified the rehabilitation of Nungua ceremonial area roads and construction of drains at Nungua market and storm drains from Nautical area to Blekese.

The one million one constituency program according to him would also see rehabilitation of Bie Wor Yor, Bank road and Nii Afotey Odai link roads while construction of O.9m U-drains at Faashie, Akpee Shika as well as drainage at Zimmerman and Borketey Laweh including surfacing of 350m FIFA house road at Nungua would begin.

On education, Mr. Bortey said, through the support of the Hon Afoley Quaye a number of computers, laptop, mathematical sets including dual mono desks had been distributed to basic schools throughout the municipality.

The MCE also disclosed that his outfit would soon start the construction of Astro turf sports and fitness center at Nungua Methodist cluster of schools. The multipurpose sports complex, he said, would have an astro turf soccer field with solar powered flood lights including a free wi-fi for schools during School hours.

As part of the above mentined project, the MCE said, 20 youth from the Krowor municipality would be trained as fitness instructors.

Commenting on health, Mr. Bortey stated that 75% of Nungua polyclinic had been completed by the Assembly, adding that plans are underway to upgrade the health facility into a municipal hospital.

One CHIPS compound according to him had been constructed to provide security and congenial health environment for the people. 12 CHIPS zones, he adds, had also been established.

He said plans are far advanced for the construction of mother and child shed at the KroMA polyclinic noting that the Assembly had rented two premises at Akpeshika and Negba for CHIPS compounds while frantic efforts are being made to fully furnish the new CHIPS compound.

In a related development, Mr. Joshua Bortey and Hon Afoley Quaye has donated a number of dual desks to the Ghana education service at Nungua.
