Kumasi Children’s Home receives GHC30,000 from MTN
MTN Ghana has donated an amount of GHC30,000 to the Kumasi Children’s Home.
During the presentation at the orphanage on Wednesday 11th December, 2019, Acting General Manager for MTN’s Northern Business District; Simon Amoh revealed that the donation was in fulfillment of a promise use proceeds from the “Ghana Stands in Worship Concert” for charity.
He revealed that the orphanages made official requests to MTN for help hence the decision to make them beneficiaries of this gesture.
He revealed that few other orphanages will receive donations from the giant telecommunications service provider ahead of the yuletide.
Mr. Amoh stated that MTN is a telecommunication company with a heart for her customers and the plight of the less fortunate.
He hoped that the donation would impact the orphanage’s operations positively.
Head of the Kumasi Children’s Home; Mrs. Mabel Amponsah, received the donation on behalf of the home and thanked MTN for the gesture.
She outlined some challenges of the home and stated that the donation was timely. She promised the money will be put to the best use to benefit the about 77 children being housed there. She disclosed that there are currently 30 females and 47 males at the facility who range between the ages of 3-weeks old and 28 years.
She stated that though the home receives support from the government, the support from donors like MTN will help deal with some of their pressing needs.
