Kwesi Appiah Optimistic about Ghana and Sudan’s AFCON Qualification Prospects

Asante Kotoko’s technical director, Kwesi Appiah, is optimistic about Sudan and Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Appiah, now coaching Sudan, expressed confidence ahead of the AFCON qualifiers, which will see Sudan compete in Group F against Ghana, Angola, and Niger. Under his leadership, Sudan has shown promising performances in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and he believes the team will be well-prepared for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers starting in September.

Speaking to 3Sports, Appiah underscored the competitive nature of football today. He stressed the importance of thorough preparation and the selection of the right squad, which he believes are crucial elements in his coaching philosophy. He is hopeful to see both Sudan and his former team, Ghana, advance to AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
