Kwesi Pratt to Deliver 12th Atta Mills Commemorative Lecture
The J.E.A. Mills Memorial Heritage is a non-profit, non-partisan organization established in 2022. It aims to preserve and build on the legacies of the late President John Evans Atta Mills. The organization was founded by academics, professional colleagues, students, family, and appointees of President Mills.
Mr. Kwesi Pratt Junior, the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, will deliver the 12th John Evans Atta Mills Commemorative Anniversary Lecture. This event is part of activities to celebrate the legacies of the late President. The lecture, scheduled to be held in Accra on July 19, 2024, will be chaired by Justice Sophia Akuffo, a former Chief Justice.
The leadership of the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage announced the event to journalists in Accra. The ceremony will also feature the launch of a book titled Atta Mills around the Regions. This book is a compilation of all the lectures delivered in the 16 regions of the country during the year-long celebration of the 10th anniversary of President Mills’ death.
Mr. Alex Segbefia, Chairman of the J.E.A. Mills Memorial Heritage, mentioned that a wreath-laying ceremony and memorial service would be held at Asomdwee Park, near Independence Square, on July 24, 2024, commemorating the day President Mills died in 2012. Additionally, on July 27, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., the President John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Hockey Tournament will take place at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra.

President J.E.A. Mills served from January 08, 2009, until his death on July 24, 2012. Mr. Segbefia emphasized that President Mills’ ideals and virtues remain relevant, particularly in national unity and cohesion, servant leadership, and combatting corruption. Since the launch of the J.E.A. Mills Memorial Heritage, the organization has organized several activities, including annual commemorative lectures and the publication of five books on Prof. J.E.A. Mills.
“The activities organized by the Memorial Heritage have been successful, and we are grateful to Ghanaians for their strong support of the annual memorial lectures, regional lectures, hockey tournaments, and for purchasing the five publications on Prof. Mills,” Mr. Segbefia said.
