Multiple actors from Ghana’s Presidency and the Ministry of Transport nearly succeeded in sabotaging the McDan Group from rolling out the nation’s first private jet charter services at the Domestic Wing of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra last Friday.

The launch of the McDan Aviation jet lounge, a properly planned programme, was officially called off by the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) within hours for it to take place last Friday,  but it still went ahead as planned, despite GACL move.

The Inquisitor has gathered that the whole game plan was fashioned out after reality dawned on the actors that McDan Aviation was in for business and wants to operate first-class private jet activities in the country.

Private jets handling business at the KIA was at Terminal Three, and The Inquisitor has been told that it was in the hands of someone related to a powerful person at the Jubilee House.

It was that powerful person who liaised with actors from the Ministry of Transport which also prevailed on the GACL to stop the event at the last hour, without considering the embarrassment the country would have gone through because of the presence of foreign dignitaries with interests in the country’s aviation sector.

Per what The Inquisitor has, McDan Aviation has always conformed to the rules of engagement with the  GACL and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) on how things should be done at the new jet lounge and the overall handling of private jets.

Again, it is emerging that McDan Aviation had indeed met with GACL and GCAA on numerous occasions before a date was scheduled to launch the lounge.

The Inquisitor, without any fear of contradiction, can say that, before the abortive attempt to stop the event, officials of McDan Aviation had met three times, last week before the Friday that the event was scheduled to take place.

What is interesting is the fact that at those two meetings, the two entities, under the Ministry of Transport, did not raise issues with McDan Aviation on how things should be done.

McDan Aviation acquired a Fixed-Base Operator (FBO) licence from the GACL in 2019 and, among other things, would operate commercial private jet services.

The company is expected to kick-start its activities with three aeroplanes and one helicopter.

The private jet services are expected to serve the needs of high-end customers in a state of elegance, while providing quick and efficient journey for corporate clients on business trips.

More To Come!
