The country is grappling with a shortage of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG), with long queues forming at stations across the Greater Accra region on Thursday, September 26.

The LPG Marketers Association of Ghana has warned that the situation could worsen if supply from Bulk Oil Distributors (BDCs) is not restored soon.

Gabriel Kumi, Vice President of the association, sounded the alarm, stating, “About 60 to 70 percent of us have run out of LPG.”

He added that the limited supply has placed immense pressure on the few remaining stations, which are struggling to meet demand.

“If we don’t get supplies by the end of Friday, September 27, the entire system will be dried up,” Mr Kumi said.

In response, the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has moved to reassure the public, attributing the shortages to logistical challenges with BDCs.

A source at TOR confirmed that the issues have been resolved, with supply expected to normalize in the coming days.
