Mahama fixed Dumsor; Yvonne Nelson’s demo useless – John Dumelo
“I don’t think it was necessary. Let me tell you why. Because at that time, the president ( ex-president John Mahama) said he will fix the problem. That’s what he said, and before he left, he fixed it. It’s a fact.
John Dumelo says Yvonne Nelson’s Dumsor demonstration was needless because ex-President Mahama fixed the erratic power-cut problem before leaving office. Just as he promised.
A few years back, two friends found themselves on opposite sides when Yvonne Nelson led a demonstration against the past NDC government over the erratic and insistent power cut plaguing the country. Many believe the demo was a wake-up call which subsequently put the government on its toes to fix it.
But John Dumelo thinks the narrative should have been otherwise. He confronted his colleague on Adom TV, pointing out that the protest was hasty because ex-President John Mahama had promised to fix it. And According to John Dumelo, ex-President John Mahama did fix the problem before he left office.
“I don’t think it was necessary. Let me tell you why. Because at that time, the president ( ex-president John Mahama) said he will fix the problem. That’s what he said, and before he left, he fixed it. It’s a fact.
“At that point in time, when Yvonne led the demonstration, I’m sure that people were fed up. So they needed some form of action. But (ex) President Mahama said he will fix it.”
John Dumelo also acknowledged that the seemingly slow process of the past government in tackling the problem also heightened tensions caused by frustrations from hardship.
“At that time, things weren’t well, but the leader said he will fix it (Dumsor). And fixing it was not a one-day thing. So I will not fault you because you were frustrated. Like how the system is frustrating now,” John Dumelo continued.
