Mahama: I have “arrested” the Number 8, it is now in his custody, come for it and let me see
...Vows to Reset Ghana’s Economy
John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on party supporters to rally behind the number “8” position on the ballot paper, confidently declaring that he has “arrested” the number, and it is now in his custody.
Speaking to traders and residents at the Kokompe Spare Parts Market in Darkuman, Greater Accra Region, Mahama humorously taunted those who previously claimed they could “break the 8,” urging them to come to him as the rightful holder of that number.
“The person who was claiming he will break the 8 should try it; the eight is with me, I have arrested the eight,” Mahama said, to cheers from the crowd at a mini rally held on Friday, September 27, 2024.
Third Phase of Campaign in Greater Accra
This event marked the beginning of the third phase of Mahama’s campaign in the Greater Accra Region, where he is engaging various communities and holding durbars. His interaction with traders at Kokompe Spare Parts Market allowed him to listen to their concerns and share his vision for national development.
Mahama promised to introduce a fixed dollar rate for spare parts dealers, eliminate “nuisance” taxes, and relocate the market to a more suitable area that would improve business for the traders.
He later visited the Tsui Maamli Trotro Station in Odorkor, where he interacted with commuters and drivers, discussing the challenges they face. He then addressed a large rally, confidently predicting victory for the NDC in the upcoming December elections.
Vision for Victory and Economic Reset
Mahama reiterated that it was a national mission to unseat the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and elect the NDC to restore the economy. He promised to ease the burden on individuals and businesses, investigate and prosecute corrupt officials, and guide Ghana back to economic growth.
The former president urged supporters to focus on the number ‘8’ and the NDC’s umbrella logo on election day, warning against vote-buying tactics by the NPP. “They have made a lot of money, so they will come with items and money. Take the money but don’t vote for them,” he said.
Mahama’s campaign will continue with engagements at key locations, including an interactive walk at Abossey Okai Takoradi Station in Ablekuma Central and a community durbar at Tunga’s JC Mensah Methodist Park in Ablekuma West.
Mahama’s message to voters centers on the policies and proposals outlined in the NDC’s 2024 manifesto, which seeks to reset the nation’s course for growth and prosperity.
