Former President John Dramani Mahama has assured members of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) that if elected in the upcoming 2024 elections, his administration will prioritize and continue its agenda of modernizing markets across the nation.

Addressing a gathering of GUTA members in Accra, Mahama reiterated his commitment to enhancing the infrastructure and trading environment in markets throughout Ghana. He emphasized the importance of modernizing these spaces to foster economic growth, improve living standards, and create better opportunities for traders and consumers alike.

“We recognize the vital role that markets play in our economy and communities. Our agenda for modernization aims to enhance the infrastructure, sanitation, security, and overall environment of markets across Ghana,” Mahama stated.

Highlighting the strides made during his previous tenure in office, Mahama pointed to initiatives such as the construction of new market facilities, improvement of sanitation systems, and implementation of technology solutions to streamline trading processes.

“We have seen the positive impact of our efforts in various markets across the country. However, there is still much more to be done. If given the opportunity to serve again, we shall continue our modernization agenda with even greater zeal and dedication,” Mahama assured the GUTA members.
