Man allegedly dupes businessman $61K

The circuit court ‘9’ presided over Samuel Bright Acquah has granted businessman Samuel Nana Kofi Sarfo bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with three sureties, one of which should be a government worker, and the rest must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

Nana Kofi is said to have allegedly parted away with items belonging to Bright Alan Yeboah, a Businessman residing at East Legon, Accra.

Nana Kofi had been accused of defrauding by false pretense, to which he has pleaded not guilty to the charge. The court, yesterday, adjourned the case to August 29, 2022, for continuation.

DSP Yirenkyi added that after Samuel took delivery of the items, promised to pay the complainant in a week. The prosecuting officer narrated to the court that when the complainant went to the supposed office of the accused and was told Samuel did no longer own the office space. Meanwhile, all efforts made to trace the accused proved unsuccessful, therefore, on August 2, 2022, the complainant reported the case to Police.

DSP Yirenkyi states that the accused was traced and arrested from his hideout and during interrogation, the accused admitted the offense in his caution statement and mentioned Jonathan Yaw Mantey and Miss Tossan as his accomplices who also received some of the goods, but failed to lead Police for their arrest. He added that the accused was charged with the offense and arraigned before this Honourable Court, adding efforts are being made to trace and arrest the said accomplices.
