Manchester United have parted ways with Erik ten Hag following their 2-1 loss to West Ham United on Sunday at the London Stadium.
A statement issued on October 28, 2024, by the club said they are grateful to the Dutch professional Manager for his contribution.
“Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager… We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”
In the interim, Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.
Ten Hag was appointed in April 2022 and is credited for victories in the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
Ahead of the current season, owners of the club made the tough decision to retain the 54-year-old after his unsatisfying output in the previous season which saw them end in worst-ever Premier League finish, eighth place – also their worst in the top flight since 1990.
Red Devils have won only one of the last seven games across all competitions. They are placed 14th on the league table with 11 points.
