Melcom Group donates Medical Refrigerators to 10 Health Facilities
The distribution of the Medical/Pharmacy Refrigerators is in line with the late Chairman's long-cherished desire to contribute to the welfare of Ghanaians
Melcom Care Foundation, under the Melcom Group of Companies, has presented Ten brand new medical refrigerators to some public and private hospitals across the country. This is in honour of the late Group Chairman of the company, Bhagwan Khubchandani.
The distribution of the Medical/Pharmacy Refrigerators is in line with the late Chairman’s long-cherished desire to contribute to the welfare of Ghanaians and all residents of Ghana.
The Group has also planned to repeat the donation in coming weeks including a well-equipped Ambulance to a promising Medical Centre worthy of service in health delivery as they prepare to observe the One year Anniversary of the death of Group Chairman Bhagwan Khubchandani “as a man who was full of life and loved humanity”.
The Hospitals that received the supports include Achimota Hospital, Nyaho Medical Centre, Greater Accra Regional Hospital and the South Suntreso Government Hospital, Kumasi.
The rest are 37 Military Hospital, Police Hospital, National Cardiothoracic Centre, the Tema General Hospital, Inkoom Hospital and Adabraka Poly Clinic.
At a short ceremony on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 to receive the Medical Fridges, the Director of Communications of the Melcom Group, Godwin Avenorgbo, emphasized the fact that “Mr Bhagwan Khubchandani was a philanthropist who loved Children”.
According to him, his late boss “was a philanthropist who cared about the welfare of the needy, the poor and the troubled hence his support for the establishment of Child Education Policy under the Melcom Care Foundation, investments in several projects across the country in favour of mitigating hardships and providing an extended arm of support to meet urgently needed inputs for public sector institutions in the Security, Medical Services and Education”.
This is the second in a series of events within 4 days in honour of his memory. The first was the donation of a wide variety of items for snacks to the Osu Children’s Home in Accra.
It would be recalled that in 2013 on his 75th Birthday, Bhagwan Khubchandani approved the purchase of a modern and well-equipped Ambulance which was presented to the 37 Military Hospital.
The reason for choosing the Military Hospital for support was based on the fact that the hospital has demonstrated strict adherence to maintenance culture, driver discipline, safety and recognition of the donor and “till date the management of the 37 Military Hospital has met all the objectives as stated, so as a company we are happy to partner the health services in moving to a level of higher efficiency,” Avenorgbo stated.
As part of activities for the year ending 31st December 2021, Melcom Care is collaborating with the National Blood Service to organize a Nationwide Blood Donation Exercise in December to feed the blood banks of various hospitals in Ghana.
“This activity is also being organized to honour the memory of Mr. Khubchandani who in previous years of our blood donation campaigns would wait for as long as it took on the day of the exercise to be informed of the extent of coverage and the number of pints bled at each of our Melcom Shop Centres”.
On behave of the Police Hospital, DCOP/Dr Samuel Otu-Nyako, was grateful to the Melcom Group for the support and promised to put the equipment to good use in the interest of the patients.
According to him, the maintenance of it will not be a problem because Biomedical Unit will take good care of it to ensure its durability.
The Deputy Chief Nursing Officer at the National Cardiothoracic Centre, Korle-Bu, Mariam Sarfoa, also expressed her profound gratitude to Melcom. She however asked for more, especially the machine for scanning called echocardiogram.
