Minister inaugurates Board of Architects and Engineering Councils

The Minister for Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea, has inaugurated an 18-member Board of Directors for the Architect Registration (ARC) and the Engineering Council (EC) to oversee the transformation and growth of both institutions in the country.

This is to ensure an appropriate regulatory body established with code of conducts is engaged to strengthen the effectiveness of the institutions.

The Minister explained that the government established both the Architects Registration and Engineering Councils to regulate the practice of institutions and to secure the highest professional standards in nation building.

He again urged the bodies to take up the required challenges facing the institutions and show commitment to upholding high levels of professionalism in their operations. He said the profession certainly requires a high degree of integrity and accountability.

“The ministry would also like to see this new Council take the head in promoting closer links among all the building sector professional bodies to ensure that the country achieves the sustainable development we all crave for,” he said.

The chairmen of the two boards, on behalf of their members thanked the government for giving them the opportunity to serve as Board members of the institutions to move the institutions to higher level.

The Engineering Council chair, Kwesi Abbey Sam, assured the government of their willingness and preparedness to work assiduously towards achieving the goals and objectives of the institutions.

“We will be committed to ensure government’s purpose and targets are achieved through the provision of quality and adequate services,” he added.

  9. Mr. William Kpobi

While that of the Engineering Council (EC) include:

  1. Ing. Valence Wise Ametefe
  2. Mr. Frederick Kwabena Akwaboah
  3. Mr. Philip Kwase Aheto
  4. Rev. Eric Otenkorang Ankrah
  5. Mr. Adjetey Ahmed Adjei
  6. Prof. Mark Adom-Asamoah
