The Minority in Parliament has levelled accusations against the Chairman of the Health Committee, alleging attempts to undermine an investigation into the COVID-19 expenditure.

The Speaker of Parliament had previously directed an ad-hoc committee, led by Dr. Ayew Afriye, the chairman of the health committee, to conduct the probe.

However, the committee has only convened once in the past seven months.

The Speaker noted that the standing orders limit his authority to enforce action from the chairman but emphasized the importance of the committee’s dedication to its task.

Following the session, Akandoh addressed the media, stressing the critical need for the investigation, especially in light of discrepancies found in the auditor general’s report and the impending departure of the sector minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu.
