MMDCE Vetting Committee: Chairman Ashie Moore Recuses Himself

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has voluntarily recused himself from the Vetting Committee overseeing the nomination process for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

In a statement issued on Monday, Ashie Moore announced his decision, emphasizing that he has delegated his responsibilities to one of his Deputy Regional Vice Chairmen, Mr. William Vinyo, who will now oversee the vetting process.

“I wish to officially announce my voluntary recusal from the Vetting Committee. In my place, I have requested one of my Deputy Vice Chairmen, Mr. William Vinyo, to take over and oversee the subsequent vetting process,” he stated.

While the exact reasons for his recusal remain unclear, his decision comes at a crucial time as the Government prepares to put in appoint Chief Executives to the various MMDCEs. The vetting of the candidates is a key step in the government’s strategy to ensure competent leadership at the local governance level.

Ashie Moore urged all stakeholders, including party members and aspirants, to extend their full cooperation to Mr. Vinyo and the remaining committee members.

“I urge all stakeholders to extend their full support, cooperation, and consideration to him and the rest of the committee members to ensure a smooth and effective vetting process,” he added.
