The new IGP, Dr Akuffo Dampare has allocated 25 motorcycles to the Upper East Region Police.

Checks with National Police Headquarters sources revealed that this was the first time in the history of the Police Service that a Police Administration has allocated such a relatively large consignment of motorcycles to the Upper East Region Police.

Further checks revealed that the allocations were made in lign with a new policy initiative by the IGP to introduce a motorbike-based community engaging policing.

I wish to dispel news making the rounds that the swift allocation of the motorbikes was the IGP’s response to a recent article I wrote titled, ” If I were in charge of State Security…” in which I made, inter alia, the following suggestion:

“(5). I would procure and/or request philanthropists to donate some twenty (20) motorcycles (jungle type) for Police Patrols, especially in Bolgatanga Central, Bawku Central and Bawku West.”

Respectfully, I wish to state that I have been engaged in public affairs for many years and I have never sought to claim any credit or praise and worship for anything; not even for my role in stopping the State Security apparatus from assassinating former National Security Minister, Francis Poku, at his official Accra Ridge residence, on 12th January, 2008.

So, why in the name of Mary the Mother of God will anybody take umbrage at a suggestion that I am taking credit for the IGP’s coincidental allocation of 25 motorcycles to the Upper East Region Police?

Why?

Stop farging and focus on your policing duties, please.

I shall Return.
