Gridlock on the Accra-Kumasi highway has persisted for over eight hours, leaving drivers and passengers stranded and frustrated.

Police personnel and local authorities are working to clear the blockage, but the sheer volume of vehicles and the ongoing construction efforts are complicating the response.

” I have been here since 2am, its almost noon, why? This is frustrating. The contractor should be asked to speed up work, ” Driver Kwakye Badu lamented. Another driver added, Why must we endure this? This is annoying and frustrating, why?”

In the scorching sun, several passengers had to walk from Akyem Sekyere hoping to find a way to reach Nkawkaw.

“Our public car got stranded at Akyem Sekyere, we had to alight and walk till Nkawanda number 1 meandering through packed vehicles emitting some,” another stranded passenger said

On a normal day a journey from Koforidua to Nkawkaw should take at most, two hours.
