Mounting pressure on the new gov’t to solve all issues immediately is unacceptable – Richard Sumah

Richard Sumah, a leading member of the Movement for Change, has stated that it is unreasonable to pressure the new government to resolve the country’s problems immediately, as it is not feasible.

According to him, the appropriate course of action is to allow the new government time to work, and he criticised the opposition for insisting that the new administration should resolve all the nation’s challenges right away, describing such demands as an attempt to deceive the public.

In an appearance on JoyPrime’s News Flash on Wednesday, March 5, Mr. Sumah explained, “There is no country in the world where all problems are solved in a short period of time – it just doesn’t happen. A new government needs time to build momentum. Even an airplane doesn’t take off immediately. So, if an opposition party demands immediate solutions from a government that has been in power for less than 60 days, they are merely throwing dust in the eyes of the masses.”

He was speaking in the context of the new government’s efforts and services.

Mr. Sumah, who is also a marketing consultant, specifically addressed the energy sector, stating that there has never been a time in Ghana’s history when any area of Accra or the wider country has had two weeks of uninterrupted power supply without outages.

He argued that the recent load shedding should not be labelled as dumsor by the opposition, as power outages can occur due to technical issues.

“You cannot simply label everything as dumsor; that’s not how it works,” he emphasised.
