The Honourable Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma West Constituency, Rev. Dr. Kweku Addo, has embarked on a familiarization tour to assess key institutions and engage stakeholders on critical developmental challenges within his constituency.

Visit to St. Augustine Anglican Basic School

Hon. Addo and his team began their tour at St. Augustine Anglican Basic School, where they inspected the school’s market, washrooms, classrooms, and general compound. Interacting with pupils, the MP encouraged them to remain committed to their studies despite the challenges posed by extremely warm classrooms. He also took the opportunity to pray for the final-year students and wished them success in their upcoming examinations.

During a meeting with the school’s staff, Headmistress Mrs. Gloria Essah appealed to the MP for assistance in replacing the deteriorating wooden structure that houses a significant number of primary pupils. In response, Hon. Addo, who managed a school before entering Parliament, reaffirmed his commitment to education and school reforms. He assured the school’s leadership that he would leverage available resources through the Municipal Assembly to improve the teaching and learning environment.

Engagement with Panbros Salt Industry

The team proceeded to Panbros Salt Industry, where Hon. Addo held a boardroom discussion with Managing Director Mr. Odartey Wellington and his team. The MP emphasized the urgent need for collaboration between the industry and the constituency to tackle the persistent flooding in the Glefe community, which shares a boundary with the salt industry.

In response, Mr. Wellington expressed gratitude for the MP’s visit and pledged the company’s support in addressing the flooding challenge. Both parties discussed the dredging of the Gyatakpor River, a crucial measure to channel excess water from the community into the ocean.

In the short term, he pledged to engage regional and national stakeholders to expedite the completion of two medical facilities within the constituency to ease congestion at Dansoman Polyclinic.
