As a member of the Food and Agriculture Committee of Parliament, Betino noted that he was motivated to source the wheelchairs after recognizing the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, particularly in rural areas. He highlighted the difficulties these individuals encounter when moving long distances and the economic hardship that prevents them from purchasing wheelchairs.

Persons with disabilities are those who are unable to perform specific tasks due to the loss of function in some part of their body as a result of impairment or malformation. This group includes individuals with visual impairments, hearing impairments, mental retardation, emotional or behavioral disorders, and other physical challenges.

Mr. Betino urged the constituents to continue showing love to disabled individuals in their communities, emphasizing that disability is not an inability. “The physically challenged can do wonders and contribute to the development of our nation if we shower them with love and support,” he said.
