MP for Wa East renovates CHPS Compound for Constituents
The Lawmaker took the full cost of renovating the entire building, including ancillary facilities.
In the pursuits to bring healthcare to the doorsteps of his constituents in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG3), the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Wa East constituency in the Upper West Region, Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has renovated an old dilapidated building into a CHPS compound facility for the Motigu community.
The Lawmaker took the full cost of renovating the entire building, including ancillary facilities.
Additionally, the MP donated a new motorbike, furniture, and a wheelchair to the new National Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) facility.
The Wa East District Health Directorate has already posted two Nurses to man the facility and deliver healthcare to the people immediately. These were contained in a statement issued by the Communications Officer of the constituency – Mahamuda Umar
At a ceremony to commission the renovated facility at Motigu, Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw stated that, he was touched by the plight of the people of Motigu in accessing healthcare from either Duccie or Bulenga through very poor inaccessible roads.
And so, as their MP, he decided to use his resources to get them a befitting CHPS zone in line with SDG Goal 3 which “aspires to ensure health and well-being for all, including a bold commitment to end the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and other communicable diseases by 2030. It also aims to achieve universal health coverage, and provide access to safe and effective medicines and vaccines for all”.
The MP was hopeful that, the newly commissioned facility will help reduce the stress people go through in accessing healthcare from other communities and “tasked the community members to own the facility and take good care of the health personnel already assigned”.
It was a dream come through on the part of the community members because history has it that, they have tried severally on their own to construct a health facility but couldn’t.
For them, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw is their savior hence drumming and dancing by the community members in appreciation of their MP. Other dignitaries, at the ceremony include the District Director of Ghana Health Service, the District Chief Executive for Wa East, and the Regional Director, Ghana Health Service Upper West
