MP Grateful to Government for Health Facility
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manso-Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region, Joseph Albert Quarm, has on behalf of the chiefs and people of the constituency expressed gratitude to the government for providing them with a polyclinic to serve the health needs of the people.
He noted that the facility provided by the Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, was not only a novelty, but also the first of its kind in the history of the constituency; and that with it is a 40-bed facility. It can serve the populous constituency and its adjourning constituencies.
Hon Quarm made this known in Parliament on Wednesday when he contributed to the approval of a loan facility of £71,500,00.00 to execute the construction of twelve polyclinics in the Ashanti, Eastern, Greater Accra and Ahafo Regions in Ghana.
Later in an interview, Hon Quarm pointed out that his constituency has a population of over 100,000 due to the mining activities in the area. Moreso, It shares borders with six other Districts namely, Bekwai Municipality, Amansie Central and South, Atwima Nwabiagya South, Atwima Mponia and Atwima Kwawuma.
As such, this district will be filled with excess people from these adjourning districts due to the mining activities there in this regard, the facility will be serving between two and three hundred thousand people.
Hon Quarm contended that since something surpasses nothing, he and his constituents are content with this facility with the hope that it will be added to in course of time.
The MP was of the belief that the facility sited at Manso Nkwanta, the District capital will absolve the Nursing Training Centre there stated by the omanhene as well as create jobs for the people. He stated that, hither to there were four (4)CHIP compounds and three (3) health centres for that populous district.
He indicated that it was against this background that he started fighting for such a facility ever since he became the people’s representative in parliament about three years ago, stressing that this efforts had finally been rewarded.
While thanking his chiefs and people for voting him to parliament, he urged them to vote massively for him, the president Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP Government in the forth coming general elections to enable them do more for the people to enhance their socio-economic welfare.
