MPA supports MOH/GHS Digitization of COVID-19 Vaccination with 1000 Tablets

Millennium Promise Alliance (MPA) – an international Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has presented 1,000 tablets to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to support the MOH/GHS vaccination agenda using the digitization APP designed locally by the GHS team to facilitate the roll out of the COVID-19 vaccination process currently ongoing in the Greater Ashanti and Greater Accra regions.

The APP which sits on the DHIS2 platform of the GHS will provide real- time results of numbers vaccinated, next due dates and unique identification of clients, among others.

At the presentation ceremony, Chief Nathaniel Ebo Nsarko, Executive Director of the Millennium Promise Alliance (MPA), said, the gesture is to support the GHS and the Ministry of Health (MOH) in the discharge of the great mission as described.

He was full of praise for the developers of the GHS APP for the display of their talents at such critical time in support of health services delivery in Ghana.

Chief Nat indicated that a key area of MPA is to promote the utilization of science and technology across the continent to strengthen existing structures and systems. He said the digitization of data during the vaccination exercise will go a long way to provide accurate data and aid in the fight against the pandemic.

He commended the GHSs local APP development team for the great feat adding that the MPA is happy to identify with the team hence the provision of the tablets to facilitate a smooth process.

The Director-General of the GHS, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, who was represented by the deputy Director of Public Health at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (GAR), expressed the GHS’ profound gratitude to the MPA describing it as very timely.

He called on other organisations to emulate the MPA because the health sector needs more of such help to facilitate a smooth vaccination process in Ghana.
